Trip Highlights

Abseil/Rappell: Experience the adrenaline rush of descending a 30-meter vertical drop into the canyon.
Cliff Jumping: Take on optional cliff jumps ranging from 1 to 10 metres, surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery.
Forest Hiking: Immerse yourself in the lush indigenous South African forest as you trek to and from the river.
River Swimming: Cool off with refreshing swims in the tannin-rich waters of the river.

Trip Details

Cost: 1150 ZAR per person
Group Discount: Available for groups of 5 or more (maximum 10 people). Contact us for larger group bookings.
Minimum Age: 10 years old, must be able to swim
Duration: Approximately 4 hours
Distance: Approximately 2 kilometres of walking on elevated terrain and 1km within the river
Difficulty: Moderate
Time Slots: 8:30 AM or 2:30 PM, Monday to Sunday. Alternative starting times can be requested.
Weather: Trips proceed in most weather conditions. Our canyon route is safe even in the rain.

What to expect

Our circular route begins with a 30-minute hike through the enchanting South African fynbos and forest to reach a river cliff. Participants hike in their own shoes while gear is carried in backpacks. Upon reaching the river, we gear up for the highlight of the trip: the 30-metre high abseil into the canyon. Whether you choose to abseil or opt for a guided rope lower, safety measures are paramount with multiple safety backups in place.

Once safely down, the real fun begins with river exploration and optional cliff jumps. Your guide will provide instruction and support as you navigate the jumps. Cliff jumps range from 1 to 10 metres, offering opportunities to practice and build confidence with feedback and advice from your guide.

Afterward, we hike back at a leisurely pace, stopping to change out of wetsuits, gather our belongings at the abseil point and savour the surrounding beauty.

Dieses Canyoning ist einfach anders. Ich habe schon viele Canyoning-Touren in europäischen Ländern gemacht, aber noch nichts vergleichbares erlebt.  Branden ist ein hochqualifizierter Guide der die Natur liebt und alle Sicherheitsaspekte beherrscht.

Man wandert zu Beginn ca. 1 Stunde durch den Urwald bis zum Startpunkt des Canyonings. Dort zieht man alles notwendige Equipment an um sich anschließend 30m abzuseilen. So gelang man in den Canyon wo man an verschiedenen Stellen von den Klippen springen kann und sich im Fluss teiben lassen kann. Am Ende wandert man wieder ein kleines Stück zum Startpunkt, wo man alles Equipment aussieht um sich anschließend auf den einstündigen Rückweg zu machen. Es war einfach wunderbar.

Durch eine Canyoning-Toure bei Branden schützt ihr außerdem einen wichtigen Teil der afrikanischen Wildnis.

I was impressed by the systemic ecological information and the passion put in restoring the indigenous vegetation. I learned a lot about the natural medicines in this nature. A must see and must experience for all the ones that have a heart to take care of our planet and its ecosystem. Branden, our guide, was simply incredible. Not only did he ensure our safety throughout the journey, but he also created a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. Despite my fear of heights, he patiently guided me through cliff jumping, and I felt invigorated after a 6-metre leap.

Branden's passion and knowledge of the local environment were truly remarkable. He shared fascinating insights about the wilderness, from the diverse plant and animal life to the rich history of the area.

Erst sind wir ca. 30 Minuten zum Startpunkt gewandet um uns dort aus ca. 30 Metern Höhe abzuseilen! Adrenalin pur! Im Anschluss sind wir durch den Fluss geschwommen und sind von verschiedensten Klippen gesprungen. Abschließend sind wir wieder zurück zum Startpunkt und dann bis zum Auto gewandet. Braden hat uns viel über die Pflanzen und die Natur erzählt und wir haben sogar Wildschweine und eine Schildkröte gesehen. Es war ein tolles Erlebnis!

We had an amazing experience, Branden is very knowledgeable about the nature, plants and biodiverse habitat which he lives in.
The abseil is also for beginners, it was definitely one of the highlights. All in all, we had a great time and got an in-depth insight into the nature of the canyon.

Branden is a fantastic naturalist with an extensive knowledge of the natural environment - specialising in the local flora and fauna - which makes his adventures all the more special.
I highly recommend the canyoning, and also Re-wilding experiences, to get a good taste of the local environment, and through it an insight into how people lived in this area for thousands of years.
